Curated by Bobby Donovan

Time and Time Again, organized by curator Bobby Donovan in one of the most
noteworthy architectural spaces in the Washington, DC area, features forty-two
paintings by sculptor, painter and conceptual artist, Mike Shaffer.
In sizes up to 66 x 66 inches, with a few as small as 36 x 36 inches, they are
especially appropriate for large-scale commercial and corporate spaces.

In the Fabric Works Series, done in acrylic on raw canvas and wax crayon on raw
canvas, subtle horizontal and vertical lines dominate the wide fields of cream-colored
canvas in the manner of Agnes Martin's work in the late 1970s.

The Line Paintings are done in acrylics and mixed media on canvas. In this series,
Shaffer layers flowing fields of color beneath curved lines, erratic swirls and splats and
spots characteristic of abstract expressionists such as Jackson Pollock. The early works in
the series are prime examples of Action Painting, sometimes called Gestural Painting
popular in the 1980s. In later works in the series, granular materials and small objects
are increasingly incorporated into the fusion. More information about this series of
work is available at: THE LINE PAINTINGS SERIES.

Building Hours: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Parking is available on the premises.
From Rt.1 in College Park, take Greenbelt Rd. to 90th St.
